Freddie Ljungberg has been tipped to replace Unai Emery as caretaker manager if the Spaniard gets sacked.
Arsenal dropped points yet again last Sunday against Wolves, taking the lead in the first half but then conceding a cheap goal late into a game.
They have now gone 3 games in the Premier League without a win, 2 of them being at home. The pressure is mounting on Emery to turn things around but it seems unlikely at this point.
The former Sevilla and PSG boss has been at North London for well over a year now and there hardly seems to be any sign of improvement. Arsenal are lacking on both ends of the pitch and this could lead to a difficult race for a top-four finish this season.
Ljungberg returned to Arsenal a while back and is currently the assistant coach of the first-team. He spent the past season as the head coach of the U21s. Many think of him as a popular short-term solution if the Gunners fail to find a permanent candidate right away.
Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with the Emirates post after spending almost a year away from management. The Portuguese coach is actively looking for employment and a club of Arsenal’s financial stature does peak his interests.
