According to the latest reports, Alexandre Lacazette and his representatives are set to meet with Arsenal today to discuss interest shown by an unnamed La Liga club.
Yahoo News understands that the Frenchman wants to discuss his future after months of drawing strong links to Barcelona. Now, in this case, we cannot tell for sure if its the Blaugrana or some other outfit but they have certainly drawn the ears of Lacazette.
His agent wants to understand Arsenal’s position in a possible sale. Just a few short weeks ago, it was rumoured that both the forward and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be offered new and improved contracts to secure their long term futures.
Lacazette was tipped to be Luis Suarez’s replacement at the Camp Nou after the prolific season he just had. But things took a turn when Antoine Greizmann announced his wishes to leave Atletico Madrid and very quickly Barcelona cooled their interest for the Gunners striker.
Lacazette also killed all rumours by stating that he was happy at North London and had just enjoyed his best season as a professional. What we did not take into consideration was Atletico’s position in all this.
The 28-year-old forward previously came very close to signing for Diego Simeone’s side but fate somehow lined up and Arsenal got their hands on him. Now that Atletico are set on losing Greizmann, Diego Costa being shopped around to other clubs and Alvaro Morata’s stay just became uncertain due to Chelsea’s recall threats, they might return to sign one of their previous targets.
