Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has publicly addressed growing speculation about his future, firmly stating his commitment to the club and dismissing rumours of a potential winter transfer.
Despite his long-term desire to return to his boyhood club, Palmeiras, the Brazilian insists now is not the time to leave.
Jesus has been sidelined since January with a serious cruciate ligament injury but is now in full training, with expectations for a return to action around December or January.
With his contract having less than two years remaining, talk of a move has intensified, but the forward has quashed these ideas.
In a recent interview with Revista Placar, Jesus directly addressed the transfer gossip.
“Coming back from such a complex surgery, it doesn’t make sense for me to leave Arsenal now,” he stated.
He emphasized his loyalty to the Gunners, who supported him throughout his lengthy rehabilitation.
“I’ve never had contact with another club, and my desire, as I say, is to return to Palmeiras, and Palmeiras’ desire is for me to return,” Jesus explained.
“When I feel it’s time to return to Palmeiras, I’ll decide that with Arsenal.”
He also criticized journalists for spreading unfounded reports about his departure.
Since his arrival from Manchester City in 2022, Jesus has been a transformative figure for Arsenal’s attack. His ability to link play and operate in tight spaces added a new dimension to the frontline.
However, his absence and the physical nature of the Premier League have seen other strikers like Kai Havertz cement their roles.
While a fit Jesus would still offer valuable quality, his pathway to regular starts appears challenging.
For now, his focus remains squarely on regaining fitness and repaying Arsenal’s faith, putting any thoughts of a sentimental return to Brazil on hold as the club pushes for a Premier League title.
