Gary Neville has claimed that Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber is currently the second-best right-back in world football.
Gary Neville: Jurrien Timber is the Best Full-Back in the Premier League
Speaking on The Overlap, the former Manchester United captain stated that only Real Madrid veteran Dani Carvajal sits above the Dutch international in the global pecking order.
Neville also declared Timber the finest full-back currently playing in the Premier League.
He explained that Timber’s well-rounded ability impresses him most, noting the player excels both in attack and in cutting out opposition threats on his defensive flank.
The high praise comes during a season where Timber has cemented himself as a key figure for Mikel Arteta’s team.
After his debut campaign at Arsenal was marred by a serious ACL injury, the 23-year-old has become a standout performer.
His form has established him as the first-choice right-back, moving ahead of fellow defender Ben White.
Neville further highlighted the strength of Arsenal’s defensive options by comparing them to their title rivals.
He argued that Arsenal possess a clear advantage over Liverpool in the full-back positions, asserting that all four of the Gunners’ primary options are superior.
While focused on Timber, Neville also offered a thought on Arsenal’s new striker, Viktor Gyokeres.
Though he acknowledged the forward will likely score many goals, he questioned if Gyokeres would consistently find the net in the most critical matches, suggesting his contributions might not always decide the biggest games.
Arsenal paid £38.5 million to sign Timber from Ajax two years ago, and his current performances are justifying that investment as the club mounts another serious challenge for the Premier League title.
