Sky Germany claims Hertha Berlin are eager to take Granit Xhaka off of Arsenal’s hands in January.
It is believed that Xhaka’s future at North London is highly uncertain despite him starting games under Freddie Ljungberg.
The Swiss midfielder opened up an avenue of hate when he told Arsenal fans to “f*** off” during a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. It followed by weeks of squad absences before being reintegrated into the team by Unai Emery.
There is no telling what will Mikel Arteta’s stance be on the 27-year-old but Arsenal have a real chance of getting rid of a him. Berlin are reportedly interested in signing “Champions League players” as per their manager, Jurgen Klinsmamnn.
Ljungberg defended Xhaka’s selection against Norwich City by saying, “I believe that everyone has a possibility. I felt that this was the best balance of our team to play that way, and I take that decision.”
Speaking of the fans jeering him against Palace which led to the rift at the club, Xhaka told Blick, “It was very painful and frustrating. For me, this reaction is still incomprehensible, especially in this vehemence and how extremely hostile I was here.”
Hertha are likely to get Xhaka on an initial loan deal with an option to buy him permanently in the summer.
