Viktor Gyokeres was called to testify in a Swedish court case, which might mean he misses important playing time for Arsenal next season. In a spectacular £63.7 million summer transfer from Sporting CP to Arsenal, the striker has scored twice in his first three Premier League games.

His availability in 2026, however, is currently in jeopardy due to his involvement in a Stockholm legal dispute. Hasan Cetinkaya, who represents the 27-year-old forward, has filed a complaint against two Swedish media outlets for malicious defamation.

The lawsuit focuses on allegations that Cetinkaya and his company, HCM Sports Management, have ties to criminal groups, as reported by Fotboll Sthlm and Expressen. Cetinkaya denies the accusations and has already lodged a complaint with Sweden’s media ombudsman for “violations of good journalistic practice.”

The matter has now been brought before the Stockholm District Court by him. Gyokeres is just scheduled to attend as a witness and is not facing any criminal accusations.

Gyokeres to be called upon as a witness in a case involving his agent

Although Gyokeres is not directly involved in any illegal action, he is nonetheless anticipated to testify as a witness. According to the Mirror, Cetinkaya’s lawyer, Joakim Lundqvist, has provided legal documents that show the Swedish international has consented to testify if called upon. Lundqvist informed SVT Sport that “he has been called as a witness to be heard in the case regarding the circumstances described in the evidence.”

The lawsuit follows a gunshot that occurred in August in the Huddinge area of Stockholm. A cousin of one of Gyokeres’ agents was shot at at home. Police in Stockholm are still looking into the incident, which did not result in any injuries, but they have issued a warning about the possibility of violence in the business because of the high stakes. Mirror Football has requested more information from Lundqvist and HCM Sports Management.

On July 26, Gyokeres formally became a Gunner following a protracted transfer drama. A heated altercation broke out between Sporting president Federico Varandas and Gyokeres’ agents, who denied rumors of a gentleman’s agreement to trade the forward this summer.
