Henrikh Mkhitaryan looked a bit slow and hurt during his warm-up for the U23 game against West Ham United on Monday night.
The 30-year-old did not get an entire game under his belt since the second half of the match was called off due to fog. He was making his comeback from an injury that he picked up on 19th December against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Mkhitaryan’s return to the pitch might has been a rushed job since Unai Emery is finding it hard to gather enough talent for the trip to Huddersfield Town.
The Armenian picked up a foot injury in the 0-2 Carabo Cup fixture against Spurs. He was finally settling into the Gunners squad when he, unfortunately, had to be sidelined.
With Emery still choosing to keep Mesut Ozil on the bench, Arsenal might need Mkhitaryan’s help to spread the floor. They were picked apart by Manchester City last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at the Etihad.
Now the Gunners have fallen behind Manchester United in the Premier League standings and are also 3 points behind the top four spots. With just 13 games left in the season, Emery has a tough road ahead of him.
A top-four finish is highly anticipated by the Arsenal faithful and would be a clear understanding that change has been achieved under the new boss. Emery’s men has a poor record away from home just like they did last term under Arsene Wenger.
Claiming all 3 points against Huddersfield is the only way to keep their hopes of Champions League qualification alive.
