According to the latest reports, Arsenal could have their path cleared up for Jorginho this summer.
Mirror Sports claims that Chelsea will make one final attempt to sign Declan Rice before the window closes in October.
West Ham United are holding strong on their £70m asking price which makes this transfer all the more improbable. Chelsea are still eager to sign him due to their need for defensive solidity.
Something that Jorginho does not offer in the Blues midfield, Rice does. He could also play in defence and that is the profile Frank Lampard is looking at. Incidentally, the only way Chelsea will be able to sign him is if they manage to move out a few players.
Jorginho could fetch them a decent sum of cash even if they have to take a loss on what they originally paid for him. Arsenal view the Italian as an alternative to Thomas Partey and Houssem Auoar. While the latter two remain their priority targets for the summer, signing them is proving to be another headache.
Both players are valued at high price points and Arsenal simply don’t have the cash to sign them both. If they fail to get either, reports suggest that they will want Jorginho.
