A recent report from Mundo Deportivo claimed that the Gunners left-back was on Ernesto Valverde’s six-man shortlist who could be added to serve as a backup to Jordi Alba.
Barcelona are expected to sacrifice their interests in Kolasinac after hearing his asking price. They are claimed to be working with a budget of only €30m but they are not prepared to meet Arsenal’s valuation.
The 25-year-old has undergone a mixed 2018/19 campaign, making 36 appearances under Unai Emery. He came in for free from FC Schalke two summers back and is still finding his way in the Premier League.
The sole reason Barcelona were targetting Kolasinac was because he is so different from Jordi Alba. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international is a big and powerful defender with the ability to create from the left.
Arsenal seems interested in selling him off for complete profit but it would be an unwise decision since their only other registered left-back, Nacho Monreal turned 33 this year. Unai Emery already has to improve the heart of the Gunners backline before he can shell out cash for 2 left-backs in one window.
