The Gunners moved down to the fifth spot of the Premier League after Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Monday night. Unai Emery spoke about the positives from the loss while ignoring the fact that the defeat had majorly hindered Arsenal’s chances of finishing in the top four.
The North London outfit now have the 10th best away record in the English top-flight, collecting only 19 points from 15 games. However, Chelsea and Manchester United have respectively collected 28 and 29 points from games on the road.
When asked whether Arsenal faced a mental block during games away from the Emirates, Sokratis said, “I don’t think so because if you see big teams like United and Chelsea they also lost a lot of points.
“It is very difficult. We are in the Premier League and the other teams are strong. I don’t have a reason. Other teams are the same, some days good, some days bad. We have to improve and look towards the next game.
“But I think we didn’t have the same fight (as Everton) so we didn’t win a lot of battles and we conceded a goal which was a little bit easy.”
It might be wise for the Gunners centre-half to admit to the issue instead of staying ignorant towards it. It was once again a pitiful display from the entire Arsenal side that led to the loss at Goodison Park.
With 4 more fixtures left to play away from home, Unai Emery will have to address the blaring issue if wants to return the club to Champions League football next season.
