Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain will both take injury hits into Saturday’s Champions League final, with four confirmed absentees missing the showpiece at Puskas Arena.
Four stars ruled out of Arsenal vs PSG Champions League final as injury list confirmed
Gunners defender Ben White leads the list of high-profile omissions. The knee injury that ended his season prematurely also rules him out of the European decider.
Mikel Arteta confirmed the right-back cannot feature as Arsenal chase their first continental crown.
PSG face their own fitness blows. Goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier and teammate Quentin Ndjantou will watch from the stands after failing to recover in time for the final.
Both players miss the opportunity to help Luis Enrique’s side defend the trophy they won last season.
Christian Norgaard also fails to shrug off his knock. The midfielder hoped to prove his fitness ahead of the Budapest clash, but the injury forces him to sit out the biggest match of the club season.
Despite those absences, managers receive encouraging updates elsewhere. Jurrien Timber gets the green light to start after Arteta confirmed the Dutchman is fully fit.
“He’s fit, yeah,” the Arsenal boss said simply, ending weeks of speculation.
PSG’s injury worries ease as well. Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes all recover from their respective knocks.
Dembele told reporters he feels “100 percent ready and raring to go” after stopping when he felt a niggle in the final Ligue 1 match.
Hakimi and Mendes passed late fitness tests after missing some training sessions. Enrique confirmed both can play, saying: “Haki and Nuno, they are OK, they are able to play tomorrow.”
Arsenal chase history after ending their 20-year Premier League title drought, while PSG aim to become back-to-back champions. The four absentees watch on as their teammates battle for Europe’s biggest prize.
