Inter Milan is still interested in signing Arsenal’s 23-year-old Polish international defender Jakub Kiwior, and negotiations have begun. Two different profiles have been identified for possible additions by Inter Milan, who are aggressively looking to bolster their defensive alternatives.
The Nerazzurri are now more interested in developing young players with strong resale value than in seasoned free agents like Mario Hermoso. They have now expressed interest in Kiwior, who signed with Arsenal from Spezia in January for a reported €20 million; at this point, his valuation is €30 million.
Sportitalia reports that Kiwior’s agents have reached out to Arsenal with a proposal for a loan agreement that includes a buyout option that might become mandatory in certain circumstances.
Given that he is also left-footed and capable of playing at both full-back and center-back, Calafiori would directly compete with Kiwior. After a successful campaign with Arsenal, Kiwior played left back, but Mikel Arteta will have plenty of options now that Calafiori has joined the team.
Bologna was also said to be interested in Kiwior, but according to Italian media, he declined to play the makeweight role in the Calafiori trade. Arsenal will have to give Inter Milan’s offer significant thought as the talks go. Kiwior has great promise, but his lack of elite experience may be a problem. With three years remaining on his contract and a one-year option, Kiwior presents a great contract for Arsenal.
