Inter Milan have turned down Arsenal’s proposal to swap Mesut Ozil for Ivan Perisic.
The Gunners are reportedly interested in bringing the Inter winger to Emirates but are only eager to offer him a short contract on loan. But the Italian giants are looking to offload the player permanently and are likely to reject any short term offer for the Croatian.
Perisic had been linked with Manchester United earlier but United’s reluctance to match Inter’s price saw the negotiations faltered in the last stage. Unai Emery already made it clear the North Londoners don’t have the fund to invest in a new player and would prefer only loan deals in January.
Perisic has had an underwhelming season so far finding the net just three times so far. The 29 year old is also keen to move but has a contract till 2022 which could be a hindrance in his transfer.
Nerazzurri value the player at around £35m but the Gunners are unlikely to splash that kind of amount on a player who is approaching the twilight of his career.
A deal for Perisic is seemingly impossible given Arsenal’s current cash crunch.
