Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, a Sky Sports broadcaster, criticized an Arsenal error during their 5-1 Premier League victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday night. At Selhurst Park, Gabriel Jesus gave Mikel Arteta’s team the lead after six minutes, but the hosts were able to tie the score a short while later. Then Jesus scored again, and later in the game, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Martinelli added three more goals to seal the win.
Even though Arsenal won the game easily, Carragher was incensed at the error that allowed Palace to equalize early in the first half. Arsenal used goalie David Raya as an extra body when in control, as is very frequent in the game, and the ball was sent back to the goalie in his 18-yard box.
Jamie Carragher warns Mikel Arteta to start delivering
In reference to Arteta, Carragher stated: “He’s done a great job, but now is the time to start winning trophies. “Although they have been an outstanding team, there have been many other outstanding teams from the Premier League period that we remember but that never took home a trophy, such as Leeds, Newcastle, and Tottenham. That is not how this team wants to be remembered. It feels like a huge victory. Due to their recent success, they couldn’t afford to lose any more games after their recent run of favourable matches.
In order to put together some results and establish confidence that they can go and win this title, they really need to start their season off right. We are approaching a critical moment in Arteta’s five-year anniversary, and they must begin presenting the largest trophies. By the conclusion of the season, they will be there or thereabouts. They will feel disappointed if they lose.
