Arsenal has made a £30m offer for Ajax’s Jurrien Timber.
The North London giants have tabled an initial offer of £30 million for the Dutch defender who has been impressive for Ajax over the past two seasons.
They will face stiff competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester United as the latter are considered favourites to sign the 22-year-old defender.
Arsenal will need some defensive reinforcements after the team struggled with Saliba’s injury in the latter half of the season.
Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen the defence and will explore some options in the summer.
Ajax value Timber closer to £50m and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the 22-year-old is tempted with Arsenal move.
“Jurrien Timber is tempted by Arsenal’s project.
“Arsenal are looking for that kind of player who can play as a centre-back and right-back sometimes, and also if needed, as a defensive midfielder. So kind of a Zinchenko player but on the right.
“This is the idea of Arsenal, to attack the situation again. Timber is a concrete target for Arsenal and Edu Gaspar, approved by Mikel Arteta.”
