football.london has managed to accumulate a few stats that should definitely be of concern for Arsenal after the 3-1 loss to Manchester City on Sunday evening.
The Gunners have now dropped down to the 6th spot of the Premier League after only reclaiming a top-four position in the midweek. Not only did Unai Emery’s men register their second defeat to the Citizens this campaign, they did so in such a demoralizing way only to raise questions on whether the team is any better off than they were under Arsene Wenger.
With last weekend’s defeat, Arsenal have now lost 4 consecutive times against Manchester City, excluding the Carabo Cup final defeat last season.
Sergio Aguero has also emerged as a regular nightmare for the North London side as the Argentine recorded a hat trick on Sunday to lead his side to victory and also extend his tally to 8 goals in the last 12 meetings between the two outfits.
Arsenal’s lack of intent in the second half certainly can be seen by their impact on the offensive end. The side failed to record a single shot attempt in the entire 45 minutes for the first time since May 2015.
Unai Emery has not escaped the ruling either calling into his question his record against Pep Guardiola. The former has lost 8 out of the 12 times he has gone up against the City boss since their time in the La Liga.
Last but not the last is Arsenal’s defensive record this season. Not only are they clearly the worst defensive team in the Premier League but they have also failed to record a single clean sheets while away from home. All 4 of their clean sheets have been registered at the Emirates.
Now, Emery’s work has shown positive results over the past 7-8 months but there remains to be seen how much the team has really improved by the end of the season.
