Kieran Tierney Could Miss Rest Of The Season

Mikel Arteta provided updates on Arsenal’s injuries after a 3-0 win over Sheffield United.

The Gunners ended a four-match winless run with a crucial tie against Slavia Prague coming up.

Bukayo Saka had to be substituted over a problem on his left thigh. Arteta told Arsenal.com: “I don’t know. He had to come off. He had discomfort in his thigh, and it’s the last thing that we need because we’re missing some big players at the moment, and we don’t want to lose another one. Hopefully, it’s not that serious.”

Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe were both missing. When asked if both will be fit for Thursday, Arteta replied, “I don’t know, I want to think yes, but if I’m honest, I don’t know.”

Club captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stayed at home due to illness.

“I hope so, yes,” said Arteta about the forward’s availability. “He was unwell yesterday, he could not train, he could not be available today, but hopefully in the next day or two he will be feeling better, and he will be available to get picked.”

David Luiz is currently nursing a knee injury with Kieran Tierney in the rehab facilities. The manager did reveal that Tierney could miss the remainder of the season.

He said: “Today he had a really strong performance and he gives you another option. Kieran is out, probably for the season so we need different options at that position and he can be one of those.”
