The 26-year-old made his move to La Liga side Real Sociedad for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
He grew frustrated at Arsenal because of limited minutes and sought a new challenge in the summer.
The Scottish defender slipped down the pecking order at Arsenal since the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City last summer.
Tierney’s move to Sociedad does not include a buy option, so the Scottish full-back will return to Arsenal next summer.
The defender explains the real reason behind his departure from the North London club.
“I left because last season I couldn’t play a lot and what I wanted was to play a lot of games and I wanted to try to do it at Real,” he told reporters. “I don’t have any problem with Arsenal.
“Knowing that Real wanted to have me here, feeling all the love from the people here was very good. Being in the Basque Country, having the experience of living here and playing in La Liga, is something I am very proud of. I hope things will go very well for me here.”
