Kieran Tierney was scared he would have to sit out of the Euros altogether.
Since coming to Arsenal, the defender has faced his fair share of injury troubles.
He revealed that he heard his knee pop when he went up against Liverpool in the Premier League. Tierney missed three months of action before making a miraculous recovery and seeing out the remainder of the campaign for Arsenal.
Tierney said via Sun Sports, “I heard the pop from my knee and it immediately went through my mind ‘Is this bad? Is this my season done?’
“I was worried about it being long-term. Arsenal were on course for a European final and I didn’t want to miss the ties we had coming up or the end to the season.
“Then there was Scotland and the Euros. There was everything to play for.”
Tierney has been a wonderful signing for Arsenal other than his injury record. Mikel Arteta is finding it difficult to get a full season out of the Scotsman. He is far too important to the side which is why the Gunners are on the lookout for a backup option.
Arsenal were pursuing a deal for Ryan Bertrand but recent reports indicate that he might be favouring a move to Leicester City.
