Kieran Tierney is ready to make his Premier League debut after impressing against Standard Liege on Thursday.
The Scotsman took part in Unai Emery’s starting lineup and helped his side to their first goal, squaring off a cross towards Gabriel Martinelli who headed it in cleverly.
Tierney had other impressive moments in the match as well on both ends of the pitch but overally showed how much of an upgrade he could be from Sead Kolasinac. The £25m summer signing has really taken to the Emirates life quickly after making his debut for the U23s last month against Nottingham Forest.
He seems to have fully recovered from his double hernia operations which kept him out of action all summer. After the 4-0 Europa League victory over Standard, he said, “I work hard, if the manager trusts me then I’ll give 100 per cent.”
Tierney added, “I think the club is a massive club, they deserve to be in the Champions League.
“We know the ambitions and aims of the club and supporters, we are all in it together and I hope we can do that. We’ve got the potential, we’ve the ability. I’ve come here and the standard has been great for me to learn off. It’s took me a few weeks to get up to standard and up to speed with the other boys. They are a world-class standard and so for me learning off them is brilliant.”
