Kieran Tierney could return from his most recent injury, much stronger and fitter, according Arsenal fitness coach, Shad Forsythe.

The £25m summer signing picked up a freak injury in the 3-1 win over West Ham United last December.

He got sidelined for three months with shoulder pain and is expected to be back some time in mid-March. However, an injury to his upper body has allowed Tierney to work on his technical ability and stamina, not hindering normal movement with the ball.

“We also have Kieran Tierney who’s rehabbing a shoulder injury,” Forsythe said. “So there’s quite a few things Kieran can do with the team, with the ball, as long as he’s not really in contact right now.

“The great thing, if there ever is a great thing about having a shoulder injury versus a lower-limb injury in football, is that we run. Kieran’s probably going to come back in very, very fit and very in shape from a running perspective because he’s been doing tonnes of running or different patterns, ball work, things for his position specifically. Also talking to Mikel and the coaches and building things that’ll have him ready to step in and perform in his position.”

The Scottish-international has struggled for fitness ever since he made the switch from Celtic last summer. Early on, he did suffer from injuries to his lower limbs from which he has fully recovered now. With this silver lining, we can expect to have him full integrated into Arteta’s side by the end of this season.
