Kylian Mbappe burst onto the scene for Monaco in the 2016/2017 campaign and helped the team to win Ligue 1 title and inspired them to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
His outstanding form caught attention of Paris Saint-Germain and they signed him on an initial loan deal last summer that includes the option for a €180 million deal, that will make the deal permanent.
The Frenchman was very crucial for the Ligue 1 champions last term, scoring 21 goals and assisting 11 in 42 appearances in all competitions and helped his team to win the domestic treble.
The 19 year old was linked with a move to Arsenal before joining PSG but a deal never went through. He has revealed why he decided to snub a move to the Premier League giants and claimed that he dreamed of being managed by Arsene Wenger.
He told Canal+ show Au Tableau as quoted by Sky Sports: “I met with Arsene Wenger, who is a great coach. He has a great reputation here in France, he’s well-respected and knows how to develop young players. This was a real option for me.
“We weighed up the advantages and disadvantages of all the clubs but my family told me it had to be my decision and one I needed to make. It also had to be a long-term decision. So it was up to me and I decided to come here [to PSG] in order to develop.
“I dream of being managed by Arsene Wenger. He is French, he’s had a great career and now he is free because he has left Arsenal.”
Mbappe has been selected for the France World Cup squad and they played their first match of the tournament against Spain on Friday, the scoreline of the match was 3-3.
