The Belgian international, known for his adaptability across the front line, suggested that his flexibility may have worked against him during the tournament, preventing him from performing at his best.

Reflecting on Belgium’s campaign, Trossard admitted that the role he was asked to play didn’t allow him to show his full potential.

“It’s always better when you play in your best position,” Trossard said in an interview, acknowledging that his performances in the Euros were not up to his usual standard.

“At the Euro, it wasn’t good enough. I spoke with the coach about it, and now I’m looking forward.”

Trossard’s comments highlight the double-edged sword of being a versatile player. While his ability to slot into various positions is an asset for both club and country, it can also hinder a player from excelling in one defined role.

At Arsenal, Trossard has found himself covering different areas in the absence of key players like Martin Odegaard, but this constant shifting may be preventing him from reaching the peak of his abilities.

Despite his struggles during the tournament, Trossard remains optimistic, eager to prove his worth in his preferred position.

For now, though, the Belgian star is focused on his club football, looking to make a significant impact with Arsenal as the season progresses.
