Mesut Ozil might never play for Arsenal again, according to Sol Campbell.
The former Arsenal and England footballer outlined just how bad Ozil’s situation is at North London.
After months of ongoing tension between him and the club’s hierarchy, fans continue to see Ozil boycotted from games. He is still allowed to train under Mikel Arteta and with the rest of his teammates. However, the German has not made it into a single matchday squad since the restart of football in July.
Speaking to GentingBet, Campbell said, “Mesut Ozil is yesterday’s news at the club. There is no chance that he will feature for Arsenal again this season, or ever again.
“There have been certain things that have gone on, instances where he has gone against the club, so I don’t see where there is any room for him to come back.”
Many fans believe Ozil could solve Arsenal’s creativity problems going forward. He still has a contract until the end of the season and could have been utilised in less-demanding games either in domestic cups or the Europa League.
But the German’s name has been excluded from Europa League squad completely alongside fellow veteran, Sokratis. This is quite possibly a long drawn out breakup between one of the most loved players and Arsenal football club.
There is only conjecture over what happened behind the scenes for Ozil to be treated this way. Almost everyone can agree with Campbell’s words, seeing how things have unfolded.
