Arsenal are in danger of losing their top doctor, Gary O’Driscoll after Andy Massey said his goodbyes to Liverpool for a job at FIFA.
Reports suggest it is not a question of “if” but “when” the Gunners medical staff will depart for Anfield.
O’Driscoll’s signing was meant to be a announced in February itself but Liverpool might have wanted to wait out Massey’s official departure. There is very little evidence to suggest that Arsenal have convinced O’Driscoll to stay otherwise.
He has previously worked with Ireland and British Lions Rugby team. It is also very clear why he might value his future with the Merseyside club. Liverpool are one of the top teams in Europe right now. O’Driscoll was also one of the staff members left behind from the Arsene Wenger era.
Daily Mail claims that all the remaining employees were not too happy with how Arsenal treated the sacked-members. There is no doubt the 49-year-old’s absence will be heavily felt at the Emirates. He was instrumental in building Arsenal’s medical facilities and is also an expert in anti-doping.
The Gunners return to action against Portsmouth on Monday night. Mikel Arteta will look to rotate his squad around.
