Sky Sports reporter, Di Marzio states that Lucas Torreira is not interested in returning to Italy just yet.

Reports have emerged throughout the season linking the Uruguayan to Serie A outfit, AC Milan.

There were claims that Torreira was growing unhappy at Arsenal due to a lack of playing time under Unai Emery. That did change early on with Mikel Arteta but the 24-year-old is still not a regular for the Gunners.

AC Milan were reportedly interested in signing him last summer and even in January. Torreira never wanted to force a move out of the Emirates but the thought was dwindling in his mind. Marzio claims that Milan won’t be able to come up with the midfielder’s €40-50m asking price.

It is difficult to say whether Torreira will remain at Arsenal for the upcoming campaign if a prominent name like Thomas Partey comes in by August. Partey will definitely command a starting berth over either Torreira or Granit Xhaka as has been seen in the last few games. Torreira gave way to a more adventurous Dani Ceballos, who played as a deep-lying playmaker in wins against Everton and West Ham United.

Torreira’s attacking deficiencies make him a squad player but his overall efforts on the pitch are unmatched. A raging bull with the agility of a grasshopper, Torreira pings from one end of the pitch to the other, intercepting passes and winning back possession for his side. His ability to stop opposition passes down the middle proved to be a key factor in Arsenal’s improved defensive results under Arteta. It will be foolish of Arsenal to sell him without a replacement in place.
