Lucas Torreira On His Way Out Of Arsenal

Lucas Torreira is open to a Serie A return but only on the condition that Marco Giampaolo becomes the new manager of Torino.

Mikel Arteta has been able to draw out a plan at Arsenal since his arrival at December and unfortunately, the Uruguayan does not feature in it.

Since the restart, Torreira has started just one Premier League games for the Gunners. Arteta has chosen to go with Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka in his two midfield posts while Matteo Guendouzi has been ousted from the squad completely. This could mean the end of the line for both Guendouzi and Torreira at Arsenal.

Fans would hate to see the little enforcer leave but it makes sense in the bigger picture. Arsenal need to raise funds and Torreira is one of their most valuable pieces. Selling him along with a string of other players would help the Gunners carry out some decent business this summer.

Torreira has been linked with a return to Serie A for a long time now. There were the likes of AC Milan, Napoli and several other Italian clubs after him. While there are no clear suitors right now, Torino could definitely become one in the coming days. Torreira’s former Sampdoria boss, Giampaolo is about to appointed at Torino and he has reportedly made some transfer demands. One of them would be to bring in the 23-year-old midfielder who is stuck in London.
