Manchester United are making negotiations harder for Arsenal by setting up a £30m price tag for Eric Bailly.
The Gunners are interested in the centre-half who has performed poorly for the Red Devils this season. Bailly was an immediate hit when he came to Old Trafford in 2016 but his form has taken a giant dip in recent months.
Injuries did not help his case and the Ivory Coast international went down again last month during the Premier League derby against Manchester City. He has been diagnosed with ligament damage and has been ruled out for the rest of the season and the African Cup of Nations.
Arsenal reportedly had placed a bid worth £20m but United are refusing to take a loss on Bailly’s sale. This could be the final straw to break down the possibility of a transfer.
The Gunners do not exactly have the best luck against injuries or the best medical staff to keep up with such an injury prone player, as it has become evident over the years. And extinguishing all of their financial resources on one doubtful player is a huge risk.
Bailly’s contract with the Red Devils is set to end in the summer of 2020. If he recovers well and gets back in form, maybe Arsenal can make a second attempt at signing him.
