Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard remains resolute in his belief that the Gunners can bridge the 16-point gap separating them from league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
“We’ll Fight Until the End” – Odegaard Backs Arsenal’s Title Hopes
Liverpool’s recent 3-1 victory over Southampton, highlighted by Mohamed Salah’s brace and Darwin Nunez’s contributions, extended their lead at the top of the table.
Despite this significant deficit, Odegaard emphasizes Arsenal’s unwavering determination to compete until the season’s end.
Reflecting on previous campaigns, he notes that the Premier League’s unpredictable nature keeps their title aspirations alive.
“We’ve put ourselves in a difficult position at the moment but we have to keep going,” Odegaard asserts.
“Hopefully we can—like last year—hit the top form towards the end and then we’ll see where that takes us in the league and also in the Champions League.”
Arsenal’s recent domestic form has been less than stellar, with a surprising home defeat to West Ham United followed by a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
However, their commanding 7-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League showcases the team’s potential when in peak form.
Looking ahead, Arsenal faces a crucial fixture against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Despite United’s struggles this season, including only two wins in their last seven home games, Odegaard remains cautious.
He acknowledges the quality within the United squad and the challenges of playing at their home ground.
“They’re not where they want to be in the table… but we know the quality they have when they’re really on it,” Odegaard comments.
“But we go there to win and, yeah, we’re Arsenal and we’re not scared.”
With two games in hand, Arsenal has an opportunity to narrow the points gap. Odegaard’s leadership and the team’s resilience will be pivotal as they strive to capitalize on any potential slip-ups by Liverpool in the remaining fixtures.
The upcoming weeks will be critical for Arsenal’s title ambitions. Their ability to translate Champions League performances into domestic success could determine whether they can mount a serious challenge to Liverpool’s dominance this season.
