The Premier League leaders, Arsenal, will be without a crucial player for a while. In the Gunners’ victory over West Ham, skipper Martin Odegaard was replaced due to a knee injury.

Last week at Emirates, Mikel Arteta’s team defeated the Hammers 2-0, giving them a one-point lead over fellow title contenders Liverpool at the top of the league standings. But captain Odegaard, who had battled injuries for the whole of the season, was taken out after just 30 minutes.

The Norwegian playmaker appeared to have suffered a knee injury and had to be replaced. Now, a former medical expert who served with Norway’s national team has disclosed when Odegaard might return to action.

When Odegaard sustained a shoulder injury during Arsenal’s victory over Leeds United in August, he had already missed time this season. But against West Ham, an MCL problem ultimately overcame him after he had been substituted early in a few earlier games.

Medical expert drops timeline on latest Odegaard injury

Odegaard was substituted early in the game due to a knee injury, but tragedy struck again during the Gunners’ victory over West Ham. Additionally, even though Arteta wasn’t particularly optimistic about the scenario, an injury expert has subsequently hinted that it could not be as dire as initially thought.

After the game, Arteta told reporters, “I believe he had a knee-to-knee clash, and immediately he was uncomfortable.” I chatted with him just now, and he is not entirely convinced. He is wearing a brace; we will have to wait and see what the doctors say. However, we have also not had much luck with that.

Physio Scout, who has over 50,000 followers on X, stated that the real problem might be rather modest, which could allay that initial worry. They posted on social media, saying, A painful quad contusion or bone bruise injury is brought on by a blow to the outer quad during contact.

At the beginning, these can be really painful, but they can go away quickly as the week goes on. Nevertheless, the alternative is an MCL injury brought on by valgus stress at contact. Though unlikely, it is still a possibility.
