Olympique Marseille are interested in the services of Matteo Guendouzi.
Arsenal still have a contract with the youngster until June 2022.
His season is over after picking up a metatarsal fracture at Herth Berlin. The Frenchman will head back to North London for treatment before he considers his options for next season.
Mikel Arteta and Guendouzi have had a falling out because of which the midfielder is no longer wanted at Arsenal. He did gain some recognition on his loan spell to Germany but not enough to redeem himself to Arteta. Fans and the media all expect to see the 22-year-old depart this summer either on loan or permanently.
Marseille have a golden opportunity of picking him up for cheap. Guendouzi himself would also favour a move back to France. OM can promise Champions League football and a regular starting berth.
Arteta is likely to shift his focus to another French midfielder once Guendouzi departs. Lyon’s Houssem Auoar was close to securing a move to Arsenal last summer before it fell through. He is still on Arsenal’s shortlist as Edu and Arteta plans on a complete squad overhaul following a disastrous season.
