Mesut Ozil Announces Himself Fit For New Comeback Season

Arsenal seem to have lifted the complete shun on Mesut Ozil ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Once kept away from the first team due to internal issues, it seems like the German will be involved for Arsenal next term.

Ozil’s name went absent from the teamsheets right from the season restart. He was one of the only members of the squad who refused to take a pay cut and thus, was made to sit out the entire final stretch of last season. It did raise some questions since Arteta never expressed any sort of disappointment regarding the German.

Sure, Ozil performed well below par last season, racking up just one Premier League assist before getting dropped altogether. Arteta even implemented a different setup which had no space for a player of Ozil’s make. But the new season calls for a new start with fresh tactics and the German playmaker ready to make his mark on the pitch once again.

Posting on his Twitter page on Sunday, the 31-year-old posted a picture of him facing Villa accompanied with the caption, “Season prep is on”.

Ozil is back with the squad and playing pre-season games under Arteta. That could only mean good things for the German who refused to entertain interests from Saudi Arabian clubs in signing him this summer.
