Sead Kolasinac in his Burnley post-match interview, after collecting his Man Of The Match trophy said, “That’s the case when you’re a big star, like Mesut is. Of course, there are always negative headlines but, as a team, we don’t pay attention to them and Mesut doesn’t either. That’s what’s most important. We’re all behind Mesut – all the staff, all the players.”
“If negative things are written, then that’s just what happens. In life, not everything is positive – sometimes there are negatives written about you too, and he’s had that. But with his performance [against Burnley] he’s quietened a few critics.”
Being one of the highest paid players in the Premier League, Ozil has never lacked criticism, mostly over his work rate on the pitch. It is being said that Emery is fed up with the 30-year-old as well, mostly due to his disrespectful action of throwing down the captain’s armband when taken off in the 2-2 Premier League draw against Crystal Palace.
Emery did hand Ozil a start and in turn, the German put in a solid display at the Emirates.
