The German playmaker is still under contract till June 2021, earning the highest fees in the entire Premier League.
There have been talks of possibly extending his deal at North London or cashing in on him right now. Dr Erkut Sogut, Ozil’s agent lifted the lid on his client’s plans for the upcoming season.
“Mesut has a one-year contract,” Sogut said (via Onefootball). “There will be no change in this regard. So what happens next, time will show. Mesut will be 32 years old and will have a few more years in his career. Mesut and his family will make a decision.”
Previous reports stated that an offer from Turkish outfit, Fenerbahce had come in for Ozil. To this, Sogut replied, “I cannot speak about Mesut and Fenerbahçe. Because I have no right to speak on this matter according to the principle of confidentiality.”
Of course, Ozil will not be leaving Arsenal this summer. This will be the final year of his most lucrative contract in football. He and his agent very well know that no other club will pay him this amount of cash right now. Despite his poor performances on the pitch, Ozil is also in Mikel Arteta’s good books, starting nearly all the games after the Spaniard’s arrival.
