Not that the 1-2 defeat to Wolves wasn’t enough, now fans have to accept that Thomas Partey might be out for weeks.
On Sunday, Arsenal lost a third consecutive match on home turf which they have not done since 1976. It was a terrible performance but news over Partey’s fitness was a double whammy.
“I don’t think he will be with us in the next few games,” said the Gunners boss. “We have been missing a lot of players. We have many, many different issues, but I don’t like to use that excuse.
“At the end of the day, we are all the time really close to winning football matches and we end up losing it in the last few games. This is only in our hands with the players that we have. It is what we have to do. We cannot change that. It is in our hands.”
Partey was taken off in the 1-0 defeat to Leicester City last month. It was reported to be an ankle and thigh issue.
When asked if Partey’s injuries were more serious than they thought, Arteta replied, “Yes.”
