Mikel Arteta stated that no Arsenal player is undroppable, not even Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The striker has hit a rough patch this season, scoring just twice in 11 Premier League games this season, once on opening day and the other a penalty against Manchester United.
Many have called for the Gabon international to be dropped to motivate him into performing but that has not been the case. Of course, Arteta is not opposed to the idea as he claims no player holds a guaranteed starting spot under him.
“No one is undroppable,” Arteta said about Aubameyang before Thursday’s clash with Dundalk. “At the end of the day, we have to find the right players to win football matches.
“But we cannot forget what Auba has done for this club and what he has done in recent months, not years ago. As well, I see how he’s training and how he’s behaving, how much he wants to turn this situation around.
“When I see that type of hunger, it’s about supporting the player as well as the status he has in the team because of the performances he has provided for this football club.”
Aubameyang’s knack for goals is his best trait but it can only flourish when there is an able supporting cast around him. Without proper supply, he has been grown frustrated and that has directly reflected on his game.
