Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed the departure of four senior players as the club embarks on a significant summer rebuild aimed at finally clinching the Premier League title.
The Gunners concluded their 2024–25 season with a 2–1 victory over Southampton, securing a third consecutive second-place finish.
Despite the win, the campaign highlighted the need for reinforcements, especially in attack, as no player reached double figures in league goals—a first in over a century for the club.
Among those departing is left-back Kieran Tierney, who marked his final appearance with a goal at St Mary’s Stadium. Tierney is set to return to Celtic, the club he left in 2019, having agreed to a pre-contract earlier this year.
Midfielder Jorginho will also leave upon the expiration of his contract on June 30. The 33-year-old Italian is reportedly considering a move to Brazil, with Flamengo among the interested parties.
Loan signings Raheem Sterling and goalkeeper Neto are set to return to their parent clubs.
Sterling, who joined from Chelsea, managed just one goal in 18 appearances, while Neto’s time at the Emirates was limited.
Arteta acknowledged the contributions of the departing players, stating, “It was important to win, and to say goodbye to a few players who have left our football club, to say thank you for their contribution.”
Looking ahead, Arsenal are preparing for a busy transfer window. The club is reportedly targeting a top-class striker, with names like Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyökeres linked to the Emirates.
Additionally, reinforcements in midfield and on the wings are being considered, with players such as Martin Zubimendi and Nico Williams on the radar.
With a €200 million budget allocated for new signings, the Gunners aim to bolster their squad depth and address the shortcomings that have hindered their title aspirations in recent seasons.
As the summer unfolds, Arsenal supporters will be eager to see how the club navigates the transfer market in pursuit of ending their two-decade-long wait for a Premier League crown.
