Mikel Arteta confirmed after Wednesday’s win over Manchester United, his star midfielder, Granit Xhaka is here to stay.
Speculations have been rife over the 27-year-old’s future ever since he told off the Arsenal fans.
Xhaka got stripped off his captaincy and was made to sit out a number of games. However, he seems to have impressed when reintegrated back into the team. He played a crucial role in the 2-0 victory at Emirates last night, quickly claiming an important spot in Arteta’s team.
Despite his performances, a deal seemed to be in place for Xhaka to Hertha Berlin. The player’s agent came out and admitted it last month. But Arteta was always adamant about keeping the midfielder at North London.
“I think he is going to stay,” Arteta said of Xhaka after collecting his first win as Arsenal manager. “I really like him. If we get him on board, he can be a tremendous player for this football club.”
