Santi Cazorla said that Mikel Arteta deserves to be the Arsenal boss since he was always a good leader back in his playing days.
The two Spaniards shared the dressing room while Arsene Wenger was still in charge at the Emirates.
Cazorla is currently at Villareal and was full of praise for his compatriot. He told BBC Sport, “Arteta deserves to be the boss. He was always a leader in the dressing room. It was the right decision to put him in as manager; it made sense and he has everything you need for the job. I hope he takes Arsenal up the table.”
Both of them won the FA Cup and the Community Shielf twice for Arsenal before parting ways. Injuries got the better of both of their careers at North London. While Arteta hung up his boots and moved directly into coaching, Cazorla moved back to Spain to revitalize his game.
What Arteta lacks in experience, he seems to be making it up through personal testimonies. Almost every former player of his has praised his leadership qualities and Cazorla’s comments are no different. This just goes on to show just how good Arteta could become as a manager if he is given time to operate.
