Mikel Arteta expected to bring back golden age at Arsenal

Bacary Sagna believes Mikel Arteta can lead the club to their glory days.

The French defender shared the dressing room with now manager Mikel Arteta and has lauded his former teammate for the work he has done at Arsenal.

He believes the Spaniard has the capacity to bring glory to Arsenal if he has the mental strength to stick to his principles.

“I think Arteta is doing an amazing, amazing job at Arsenal – but I’m not surprised at all,” Sagna said. “Of course, when you become a coach you have some stick, you have hard times. Arteta has had his hard times – and he’s going to have more – but he’s already shown that he has the mental strength to stick to his principles.

“He’s stuck to his young players even when criticism was high and now we’re seeing the benefits. He never changed his mindset and the way he wants the team to play. I’m not surprised to see him succeeding.”

“I am really excited about the future of this Arsenal team,” he added. “I would love to know what the team will become.”
