Emile Smith Rowe will be facing another spell on the sidelines.
Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the midfielder will spend a few more weeks on the sidelines.
The England international missed Wednesday’s League Cup defeat to West Ham through injury after picking up a knee injury last week.
He has been struggling to earn a regular spot in the Arsenal squad since his imminent return from his long-term injury earlier this campaign.
Smith Rowe has been linked with a move to Newcastle United in January as he struggles for game time at the Emirates.
The academy graduate would be out of contention for Arsenal’s weekend clash against Newcastle United and Arteta admitted that Smith Rowe will face a few more weeks on the sideline.
Arteta said: “Nothing has changed, as I said I think he will be out for weeks. How many will determine in relation to how he progresses in the first few weeks especially. It’s a big blow because he was getting some momentum and some minutes and we’d started to get the Emile that we needed, but unfortunately he’s going to be out again.”
