Arsenal have a lot of games coming up in the next weeks as they prepare for a busy end to December. Everton, Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Aston Villa are Mikel Arteta’s team’s next four games before the season ends. With only two defeats in 22 games in all competitions, the Gunners are still leading the Premier League and Champions League standings.

However, with Manchester City winning their previous four games to maintain pressure on Arsenal at the top of the standings, the fight for the league crown is intensifying. As he arranges some acquisitions to increase the team’s chances of winning a trophy in 2026, Arteta will be hoping his team can keep winning before the new year.

Rodrygo, a striker from Brazil, was allegedly a target for Arsenal during the summer transfer window. The Real Madrid player was frequently linked to the Gunners throughout the summer, but in the end, he remained in Spain for the 2025–2026 campaign.

Arteta eyes Madrid pair

According to reports, Arsenal was thinking about making a bid for Brazilian attacker Rodrygo during the summer transfer window. Throughout the summer, the Real Madrid star was frequently linked to a move to the Gunners; nevertheless, he finally stayed in Spain for the 2025–2026 season.

However, he hasn’t been able to make an impression this season; thus, a hefty £78 million cost is said to be the asking price to entice the attacker away from the Bernabeu in January. Liverpool is also apparently interested in the 24-year-old. But according to recent sources, Arsenal is also interested in Victor Valdepenas, so Rodrygo isn’t the only Madrid player on their radar.

According to ESPN Deportes, Arsenal is reportedly interested in the 19-year-old centre defender, while Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping an eye on him. However, after encouraging the young player during his debut against Alaves, Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso may be hesitant to split ways with him.
