The injury that prompted Jurrien Timber to leave the pitch less than 50 minutes into his Arsenal Premier League debut
After 49 minutes, Arsenal had a 2-0 lead over Nottingham Forest when Timber suddenly pulled up off the ball.
He had already played in the Community Shield victory over Manchester City prior to the start of the season, making this his second appearance for the Gunners. But alarmingly, he was forced to leave the field with the injury and was unable to complete the game.
After colliding with Brennan Johnson in the first half, Timber appeared to have a problem, but he was able to reappear after the break before being forced to leave the pitch.
Takehiro Tomiyasu took the place of the former Ajax defender, who the Gunners acquired for £34 million this summer to strengthen their defence, raising the possibility that Gabriel Magalhaes is also dealing with an injury that has not yet been made public.
In addition to Declan Rice from West Ham for a club record £105 million and Kai Havertz from Chelsea, Timber was one of the summer signings signed by manager Mikel Arteta. When kickoff was delayed for 30 minutes owing to a turnstile issue, Arsenal’s season opener had already been adversely affected.
