Arteta surprised by Kai Havertz’s disciplinary record amid suspension fear

Mikel Arteta voiced his surprise at Kai Havertz’s increasing number of yellow cards, raising his eyebrows and hinting at a possible two-game suspension for the Arsenal player.

Arteta brought up concern over Havertz’s disciplinary record despite his important role in Arsenal’s Premier League title aspirations, especially as the Gunners look to fight off challengers from Liverpool and Manchester City.

Yeah we have to careful. Hopefully he won’t get booked again because we know what happens with the 10th,’ Arteta said in his post-Luton press conference.

‘Asked if he was ‘surprised’ by Havertz’s disciplinary record, the manager replied: ‘Yeah. If you told me another player, maybe not, but with him yeah.

‘I will have to go back and look at those yellow cards, but if they are yellow cards then we’ll have to improve because we don’t want our players having that many because we are the best in the league for that. It’s something to improve.’

After a crucial assist to Martin Odegaard in Arsenal’s most recent win over Luton Town, Havertz’s performance was overshadowed by a contentious diving incident in the 66th minute that led in his 11th yellow card of the season—the eighth in the league alone.

Havertz might face suspension if he receives any more bookings before his next games against Brighton and Aston Villa.

Arsenal’s reliance on the German international is increased by this threat; in past meetings, his absence had a major impact the outcome, as seen by Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to West Ham when he was injured due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

While Arsenal boasts the Premier League’s finest disciplinary record this season, with 44 yellow cards and two red cards, including those of Fabio Vieira and Takehiro Tomiyasu, Arteta remains vigilant, emphasizing the indispensability of Havertz in the title race’s decisive phase.
