Mikel Arteta is banking on Thomas Partey to ignite Arsenal’s charge in the Premier League title race as the Ghanaian midfielder returns to full fitness.
Despite featuring in only four games this season due to injuries, Arteta believes Partey can make a significant difference.
Asked if Rice could help Partey perform to an even higher level, Arteta said: ‘For sure.
‘I will have to see that chemistry on the pitch, and those qualities, and the things we have to treat around to make sure they play to their strengths and make each other better. But I think that will be a very powerful midfield.
‘I think they only played in the Community Shield together in midfield. That tells you how much we have missed Thomas.
‘To play the whole season – and a player like him who has not played much with us – the impact he can have for the next three months can be really big.’
Partey, a vital player in Arsenal’s title challenge last season, is set to make his comeback against Sheffield United on Monday. Arteta is eager to witness the formidable partnership he can forge with Declan Rice, Arsenal’s record signing at £105 million.
Although injuries have hindered Partey’s consistent presence on the pitch, Arteta remains optimistic about his impact. The midfielder’s versatility, showcased in previous matches including a stint at right-back, adds depth to Arsenal’s squad.
Arteta emphasizes the importance of accumulating at least 90 points to secure Arsenal’s first Premier League trophy in two decades.
With Partey back in contention, Arsenal’s prospects in the title race receive a significant boost, fueling hopes of ending their long-awaited championship drought.
