Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu faced a knee injury and it will keep him out for few weeks. The Gunners boss has urged him to be “patient” ahead of the new season.
Tomiyasu has struggled with fitness in the last three years at Arsenal. The former Bologna man joined the club in 2021 and he became a crucial part of the game. He was Arteta’s first-choice left-back in the 2023-24 season.
The Japan international missed out pre-season games due to a knee injury. Arsenal was last seen playing pre-season against Lyon in the Emirates Cup.
While talking to the media after the contest, Arteta was unable to offer any positive updates on Tomiyasu’s condition. He said, “Yeah, I think it will take weeks on that one unfortunately. He’s going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it’s going to take a few weeks.”
The 25-year-old was one of two versatile defenders to sit out against Lyon along with Jurrien Timber, who spent most of the 2023-24 season due to a devastating ACL injury.
