Attacker Mohammed Kudus of Ajax and Ghana “prefers” a move to Arsenal over Chelsea, another Premier League opponent
Kudus had a fantastic season in 2022–2023. He finished the season with 18 goals and seven assists for Ajax across all competitions after starring for Ghana at the World Cup.
The 22-year-old’s contract expires in two years, therefore Ajax could do better to sell him now rather than wait until his value starts to drop. He has been closely associated with Manchester United over the past year, but it appears that Arsenal and Chelsea are now in the lead in the fight to recruit him before the 2019–20 campaign.
In relation to a potential transfer to Chelsea, it was stated earlier this week that Kudus was “close” to “agreeing personal terms,” but according to Football Transfers, he has “expressed a strong preference for joining Arsenal” over its London rivals. According to reports, “personal terms with the Gunners would not be an issue” and the fact that Arsenal is playing in the Champions League is “a prominent aspect in his decision.” Kudus “would be happy” to join Chelsea, but if he had to choose between the two teams, he “would rather head to North London,” according to reports.
According to a another report from the similarly untrustworthy Fichajes, Chelsea is allegedly preparing a “crazy offer to steal the signing of Kudus from Arsenal.” According to reports, the star player for Ajax has emerged as “the central protagonist of an exciting conflict between two Premier League giants like Chelsea and Arsenal.”
According to reports, Chelsea is “willing to offer a juicy €45 million to acquire him,” and this offer would “give them a significant advantage” over Arsenal, who “need to generate revenue through sales before making a concrete offer.” According to recent reporting by journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea is looking into Kudus as a potential Conor Gallagher replacement.
