There were reports of a training ground rift between the pair

Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for a reported fee of £42.5 million, signing a five-year deal in 2013. He has been a mainstay in the midfield since joining the club and has won 3 FA Cups.

The Germany International has had a difficult summer after feeling persecuted for Germany’s early exit from the World Cup where his meeting with Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan was cited as a reason for the poor performances.

The 29 year old even decided to retire from International football and was criticized by several senior officials in the German Football Association.

The playmaker featured in both the club’s opening Premier League games against Chelsea and Manchester City but lost both the matches.

He was surprisingly left out of the squad against West Ham United as the London Outfit won their first match of this season. Rumours emerged that he had a training ground row with manager Unai Emery and that was the reason of his absence from the squad.

But the Spaniard later dismissed the reports claiming illness was the reason German missed the match and started in the upcoming match too against Cardiff City, winning 3-2.

Nacho Monreal has insisted there is no issues between the pair and feels Ozil has been treated unfairly.

“People have been a bit unfair with him. He is a very famous player and obviously people love talking about him,” Monreal said as quoted by Mirror.

“Recently, it is always bad things. Like last time, he was sick and that’s why he didn’t play.

“People started to invent that he had a problem with the manager. It wasn’t like that. He got a cold, he was sick, that’s it. That’s why he didn’t play.”
