It has been established by the midfielder’s client that he is unhappy at North London due to his role being switched up this season.
Unai Emery took the initiative to not only make Torreira play in a box-to-box role but also drop him from the lineup, when he failed to adapt immediately. This obviously created an air of frustration, especially during a time when the team is performing so poorly.
Torreira’s agent, Pablo Bentacur said, “I must say that the change of role has penalised him sharply. He is no longer at ease and we hope that things can change.”
Napoli originally wanted to sign Torreira from Sampdoria but Arsenal won that race with their £26m bid. Now, they want to take advantage of his situation at the Emirates but Bentacur added, “We got together with the Gunners’ general manager, Raul Sanllehi, and he immediately told us that for Arsenal, Torreira was not for sale – an adamant position.
Torreira is still only 23 years old. He has established just how good he could in a central pivot role. The right manager can turn him into a world beater and Arsenal should hold on to him for their best interests.
