Deals to bring in Nuno Tavares and Murillo, according to Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, “are at the final stages”

According to reports, Forest has agreed to a fee of roughly £15 million for the permanent signing of defender Murillo, 21, from Brazilian club Corinthians. Forest is also reportedly close to signing left-back Tavares on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

“I do believe there are a couple of players, Tavares and Murillo,” said Cooper, whose team plays at Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. Although not nearly finished, the procedure is moving along rather well. Cooper stated that there had been no additional developments about Brennan Johnson’s potential departure, who has been strongly connected with Tottenham, as the transfer window was scheduled to end at 11 p.m. on Friday.

Lewis O’Brien, a midfielder, has joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan, the team announced on Thursday. Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea and Odysseas Vlachodimos of Benfica have also been linked with Forest. A swap agreement for Bologna midfielder Nico Dominguez and Reds player Remo Freuler has also apparently been reached.

Following the passing of his uncle, police officer Sergeant Graham Saville, who was struck by a train last Thursday while attempting to assist a frightened man on railway tracks, Cooper did not clarify whether captain Joe Worrall will return to the side for Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

After being fired from Manchester United last week, Forest’s Worrall missed Wednesday night’s home Carabao Cup loss to Burnley due to suspension. Cooper said Orel Mangala, Danilo, Scott McKenna, and Wayne Hennessey were all out of the cup match on Wednesday night, but he has no fresh injury concerns. Felipe, a Brazilian defender who has been sidelined all season owing to a knee injury, came off the bench against Burnley and might play against Stamford Bridge.
